On the 14th and 15th of September, The Hub in Letham will be buzzing with creative energy as Letham4All, in partnership with Perth Theatre and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, hosts the “Welcome to the Arts Weekend.” This event offers a unique opportunity for the local community to immerse themselves in the arts through a variety of workshops and performances, leading up to a grand showcase on Sunday, 15th September.
Get involved: drama, songwriting, and more
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, 14th September, with an engaging drama workshop for children in Primary 4 to Primary 7, running from 10 am to 3 pm. This fun and inclusive session invites young participants to dive into creative writing, play, and the exciting challenge of creating a “Play in a Day.” The resulting pieces will be shared with the community in a special showcase the following day.
For those aged 14 and above, the Song Sessions offer a chance to explore songwriting in a friendly and collaborative environment. Guided by musicians from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, participants will work together to craft new songs, whether you’re into lyrics, melodies, or simply want to try your hand at making music. The day will culminate in a presentation of these new works during the community arts showcase on Sunday at 1 pm. No prior experience is needed, and participants are encouraged to bring an instrument, sing, or even play percussion.
Sunday highlights: Music for all ages
On Sunday, the excitement continues with “Tunes for Tots,” a delightful session for children aged 0-5 years. Led by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, this relaxed and playful event invites the youngest members of the community to enjoy music, dance, and play in a fun-filled environment.
The weekend’s events culminate in a grand showcase at 1 pm on Sunday, where participants from the various workshops will have the opportunity to present their creative efforts to the wider community. Following the showcase, attendees will be treated to a special performance by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, capping off a weekend of artistic exploration and community celebration.
