A fundraising campaign has been launched to help support The Hub Community Café in Letham, Perth, with organisers calling on the local community for support.

Run by local charity Letham4All, the café has become an important lifeline for many people across the area. Open seven days a week and offering free soft play facilities, it provides a warm, welcoming and affordable space where people can meet, connect and feel part of the community.

Now, rising operational costs are putting pressure on the café’s ability to keep on their current path, prompting the charity to launch a Crowdfunder campaign with a target of £5,000.

The Hub says the café supports a wide range of people every day, including older adults experiencing loneliness, families struggling with the cost of living, young people looking for connection, volunteers building confidence and local groups meeting for support and friendship.

For many visitors, organisers say it is one of the few places they can go without pressure, judgement or expectation.

In a statement on the campaign page, organisers said: “Our Community Café is much more than somewhere to have a coffee. It is a safe, welcoming and affordable space where people come together every day to connect, reduce isolation, improve wellbeing and feel part of their community.”

Funds raised through the campaign will help keep the café affordable and accessible, support community wellbeing activities, reduce social isolation and continue volunteering and employability opportunities.

The campaign is also supported through the Aviva Community Fund matched-funding programme, meaning donations could potentially have an even greater impact.

Letham4All is encouraging anyone who has used the café, attended activities at The Hub or simply wants to support a valuable local resource to consider donating or sharing the campaign.

Organisers added: “By supporting this campaign, you are not simply funding a café. You are helping create connection, dignity, inclusion, opportunity, wellbeing and community resilience.”

People can support the campaign through the official Crowdfunder page.

Over the past five years, local people have helped shape the services, activities, and support we provide. Now, we are looking ahead and we want to hear from you again.

We have launched a new community survey to help guide our next steps.

Tell us what matters to you

Whether you use The Hub regularly, drop in occasionally, or live nearby, your views are important.

The survey asks a few simple questions about what matters most to you and your family. It is a chance to tell us what is working well, what could be improved, and what you would like to see in the future.

This feedback will help us make sure The Hub continues to meet real needs in the community.

It only takes a few minutes

We know people are busy, so the survey has been kept short and easy to complete.

Shaping the future together

The results will directly influence what we focus on next at The Hub and across Letham.

From new activities to support services and community events, your input will help guide our plans. We have always believed that the best ideas come from the people who live and work here.

A new series of free community activities is set to bring colour, creativity and outdoor fun to local residents this spring. The “Community in Bloom” programme invites people of all ages to take part in a range of seasonal events designed to be engaging, educational and accessible to everyone.

The first session takes place on 12 February from 1pm to 2pm and focuses on spring-themed crafts. Participants will learn about spring flowers and wildlife through hands-on crafting and short quizzes, making it ideal for children and families looking for a relaxed, creative afternoon.

On 12 March from 4pm to 5pm, the theme turns to pot decorating and bulb planting. Attendees will have the chance to design their own plant pots and plant spring bulbs, with the option of creating a personalised gift in time for Mother’s Day. Both the February and March sessions require pre-booking due to limited spaces.

The programme concludes with a larger drop-in event on 16 April from 12pm to 4pm, featuring a community egg hunt. Alongside the traditional chocolate treats, the event will include an educational element where visitors can learn about local birds and how to identify their eggs and nests. No booking is required for this session, and people are welcome to arrive at any time during the afternoon.

All activities are free and open to everyone, although children must be accompanied by an adult. Those wishing to reserve a place for the February or March sessions can contact reception via email or phone, while the April egg hunt operates on a simple drop-in basis. The initiative aims to bring the community together through shared seasonal experiences that are both fun and informative.

The post Community in Bloom launches free spring activities for local families first appeared on The Hub, Letham.

The donation will help local families in Perth who are facing financial hardship, ensuring parents and children can enjoy a festive meal together and reducing the pressure many feel at Christmas.

On 17 December, Iris Trearty, Community Benefits Coordinator at McConnell, visited The Hub to formally present the donation. The visit included a cheque presentation and photographs to mark the occasion.

Gordon Ferguson, Manager of Letham4All, said the funding would make an immediate difference to families in the community during the winter period.

Letham4All is a community-run charity, and support from organisations like McConnell plays a vital role in helping us respond to local need, particularly at times of increased pressure such as Christmas.

We are grateful to McConnell for selecting Letham4All as part of their Christmas Initiative and for their continued support of community-focused projects.

The post £1,000 Christmas Initiative donation supports local families first appeared on The Hub, Letham.
