At The Hub in Letham, everything we do starts with the community.

Over the past five years, local people have helped shape the services, activities, and support we provide. Now, we are looking ahead and we want to hear from you again.

We have launched a new community survey to help guide our next steps.

TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS

Tell us what matters to you

Whether you use The Hub regularly, drop in occasionally, or live nearby, your views are important.

The survey asks a few simple questions about what matters most to you and your family. It is a chance to tell us what is working well, what could be improved, and what you would like to see in the future.

This feedback will help us make sure The Hub continues to meet real needs in the community.

It only takes a few minutes

We know people are busy, so the survey has been kept short and easy to complete.

Shaping the future together

The results will directly influence what we focus on next at The Hub and across Letham.

From new activities to support services and community events, your input will help guide our plans. We have always believed that the best ideas come from the people who live and work here.

Your voice matters. Take a few minutes to share it.

A new series of free community activities is set to bring colour, creativity and outdoor fun to local residents this spring. The “Community in Bloom” programme invites people of all ages to take part in a range of seasonal events designed to be engaging, educational and accessible to everyone.

The first session takes place on 12 February from 1pm to 2pm and focuses on spring-themed crafts. Participants will learn about spring flowers and wildlife through hands-on crafting and short quizzes, making it ideal for children and families looking for a relaxed, creative afternoon.

On 12 March from 4pm to 5pm, the theme turns to pot decorating and bulb planting. Attendees will have the chance to design their own plant pots and plant spring bulbs, with the option of creating a personalised gift in time for Mother’s Day. Both the February and March sessions require pre-booking due to limited spaces.

The programme concludes with a larger drop-in event on 16 April from 12pm to 4pm, featuring a community egg hunt. Alongside the traditional chocolate treats, the event will include an educational element where visitors can learn about local birds and how to identify their eggs and nests. No booking is required for this session, and people are welcome to arrive at any time during the afternoon.

All activities are free and open to everyone, although children must be accompanied by an adult. Those wishing to reserve a place for the February or March sessions can contact reception via email or phone, while the April egg hunt operates on a simple drop-in basis. The initiative aims to bring the community together through shared seasonal experiences that are both fun and informative.

The post Community in Bloom launches free spring activities for local families first appeared on The Hub, Letham.

Households across Perthshire are being encouraged to cut down on food waste this Christmas as Food Savvy releases a range of seasonal tips aimed at helping people save money and make the most of their festive food.

The campaign highlights how careful planning and simple changes in the kitchen can significantly reduce the amount of food thrown away during the Christmas period. With many families facing rising living costs, Food Savvy is promoting practical ways to enjoy celebrations without unnecessary waste.

Key advice focuses on planning meals in advance, shopping more carefully, and using food already at home before buying more. The campaign also promotes better use of freezers and food storage to help festive ingredients last longer.

Food Savvy is also encouraging households to think creatively about Christmas cooking. Ideas include vegetarian alternatives, edible homemade gifts, and inventive ways to use up leftovers from Christmas dinner. The aim is to show that reducing waste does not mean cutting back on enjoyment.

The initiative forms part of a wider effort to promote sustainable habits all year round. By helping households manage food more efficiently at Christmas, Food Savvy hopes people will carry these habits into the new year, saving money and reducing environmental impact at the same time.

The event will take place on Saturday 13 December from 2pm until 8pm, transforming the venue into a lively hub of festive activity for all ages.

The programme begins at 2pm with fun crafts and face painting delivered by Families Empowering Communities. From 4pm until 6pm, Perth Gospel Hall will lead games and craft activities designed to engage young people and families alike.

At 3.15pm, visitors can enjoy a lively puppet performance by Puppets with a Mission, promising an entertaining show for children in the run-up to the evening’s celebrations.

A relaxed, welcoming play session for families. It is run by staff from Perth Autism Support and the Perth and Kinross Council Early Years Inclusion Team.

These sessions are for pre-school children who are, or may be, autistic and who experience significant differences in how they communicate. Everything is set up for free play, with toys and activities chosen to support communication and meet a range of sensory needs.

A small snack is offered during each session. Parents and carers can chat together in a friendly, supportive space, and there is always someone on hand if you would like advice or information.

There is no cost to attend and you do not need to book. Please let reception know that you are there for the PAS stay and play and they will show you where we are.
